The Project:
The Sweetwater Little League Ball Fields were part of a community betterment project in Chula Vista. Project scope included design and construction of a park with recreational fields, erosion control, storm water management and landscape irrigation.
The project consisted of five artificial turf baseball fields, a concession building, horse trails, site concrete, underground work, detention basins and major landscaping and irrigation work.
The implementation of proper storm water pollution control measures was critical to this project. A large detention basin was used to collect rainwater and properly channel it to adjacent storm drain systems, ensuring that the surrounding residential neighborhoods were not impacted by erosion or run-off from the project. The area surrounding the fields is sloping and has significant changes in grade. Landscaping with drought-resistant plants was used in order to retain the soil. The final product was not only serviceable and sustainable, but also very attractive. |
