The Project:
As Prime Contractor on this project, T.B. Penick provided new maintenance and personnel facilities to support the operations of the Puente Hills Landfill in Los Angeles County, the largest landfill in the US.
The scope of work included all utilities, building structures, and site improvements, as well as demolition of existing facilities. Yard utilities included transformers, cable and fiber optic telecommunication and water distribution systems, which were tied-in from remote locations via underground and overhead methods. Site improvements included an equipment wash facility, two diesel fuel tank farms with all associated mechanical accessories, asphalt parking areas and asphalt roads.
TBP implemented fail-safe procedures to locate all existing utilities based on geophysical evidence before construction, and performed extensive co-ordination with landfill management concerning both the demolition and construction of the new facilities. TBP also created electronic files that locate the new underground utilities for the use of future contractors or landfill maintenance personnel. |
