Turner-Penick awarded two contracts for construction of facilities at Camp Pendleton
SAN DIEGO – August 18, 2009 – TB Penick & Sons, Inc. and joint-venture partner Turner Construction Company have been awarded two contracts by the United States Marine Corps to construct a total of eight bachelor enlisted quarters (BEQs) at Camp Pendleton, California.
The most recent contract is a $109 million design-build project that includes accommodations for more than 1,500 Marines as well as multi-purpose community areas and laundry facilities. The contract also contains planned modifications, which could increase the cumulative contract value to just over $121,000,000. This job is scheduled for completion in August 2011.
The project is in addition to a $104 million contract awarded to the Turner-Penick team in August for four bachelor enlisted quarters also at Camp Pendleton, California. These BEQ’s will house a total of 1384 Marines in a standard 2+0 configuration and will include a multipurpose community area and laundry facilities. The contract contains five options, which if exercised would increase the cumulative contract value to over $110,000,000. Work on this project is expected to be completed by June 2011.
