T.B. Penick & Sons, Inc. Becomes Signatory to Carpenter’s Union through New Affiliate Triton Structural Concrete
Affiliation allows access to new markets and personnel for century-old firm
SAN DIEGO – Feb. 12, 2008 — Today T.B. Penick & Sons, one of the largest and most trusted contractors in Southern California for more than a century, announced the formation of a new carpenter’s union affiliate, Triton Structural Concrete. The formation will allow the firm to become signatory to the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, a major carpenter’s union that represents over 65,000 union carpenters in Southern California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. This formation represents the firm’s first union affiliation in 27 years and provides the structural concrete division of the 102-year-old T.B. Penick with access to significant new markets and personnel.
The Southwest Regional Council is the largest council affiliated with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC) and spends $28 million every year to provide skill and productivity training to its members. Through Triton Structural Concrete, T.B. Penick will now have access to these experienced personnel.
Triton is a separate company, but will employ all structural concrete trade personnel for T.B. Penick. The general building and decorative concrete divisions will remain open shop and are unchanged by the structural concrete division’s new union affiliation.
