LEED/Sustainable Construction

LEEDsSo, just what is this thing called LEED? And why is it so important?

LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. Even more importantly, it stands for the “Green Building Rating System™” which is the nationally accepted standard for design and construction of high performance, environmentally sustainable buildings.

At T.B. Penick, we're committed to building towards a green future, and of course LEED rating points. So much so, we recently added an in-house LEED Accredited Professional to our project management staff to enhance our sustainable construction expertise.

We've been the builder on several LEED-certified projects in the last few years – and more are currently in the works. Two of our design-build projects were the first civic structures in San Diego County to receive LEED certification: the George L. Stevens Senior Center in Encanto and the Northwestern Area Police Station in Carmel Valley. Our Innovative Concrete Systems Division is an industry leader in porous paving and other surface treatments to enhance LEED performance.

TB Penick innovations are important for the environment now, and they will impact the well-being of generations to come. That's why we'll continue to build awareness and strive to be a “green” leader in the future.
