WATER SURVIVAL TRAINING FACILITY

The Department of the Navy contracted with T.B. Penick to construct their new
44,499 SF Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Water Survival Training
Facility used for deep water survival training of Marine recruits.
The facility features a three-level training pool with clear span
structural steel metal frame and tile roof enclosure. The cast-in-place
concrete pool and building foundations were constructed on pre-cast
concrete piles for stability and set into hydraulic fill material
surrounding the site. The steel superstructure is designed to flex
and return to form in the event of seismic activity.
